Use all available channels to reach out and connect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Asking for referrals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Networking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Telephone prospecting,\u00a0Cold calling<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Following up on leads in your database<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>E-mail prospecting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Striking up conversations with strangers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Prospecting<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The What:&nbsp;<\/strong>It Involves the content of the conversation you will have with your prospect and what is the end game of each contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A well-crafted script with the proper choice of words is crucial in putting the prospect in the right frame of mind to listen to what you have to say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Start your engagement as a conversation, not a one-way pitch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Easy on the artificial sales enthusiasm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raise curiosity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give context<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask for permission to carry on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Schedule the next steps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Asking for Referrals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a structure in asking for referrals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referrals are the most efficient and effective way of growing your prospect pipeline. Many sales professionals don\u2019t ask for references because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>They haven\u2019t characterized the sources of referrals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They haven\u2019t composed their referral elevator pitch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They haven\u2019t structured a process for asking for referrals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Power Tip: Compose a referral elevator pitch and practice it.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Does <\/strong><strong>A <\/strong><strong>Referral Elevator Pitch Sounds Like?<\/strong><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example 1<gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Saleswoman:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;I have a favor to ask you, but only if you&#8217;re comfortable with it.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Customer:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;Sure, go ahead.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Saleswoman:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;It&#8217;s been my experience that most of my customers when they were in the process of buying a house, they shared their experience with their relatives and friends. Is this the case with you?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Customer:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;Yeah, sometimes, I do that.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Saleswoman<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>:<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<em>&#8220;That&#8217;s great. Has any of the people you have talked to mentioned that they have been thinking of buying a property.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Customer:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;Yes, a couple of have.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Saleswoman:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;I would appreciate it if you could tell them about me and how I can help them find the right property. Would you mind introducing me to them?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Would you be comfortable doing that?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Customer: &#8220;I don&#8217;t have a problem with that.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Saleswoman:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;That&#8217;s great. I appreciate it.&#8221; Then, if you can give me their contact details and let them know, I will call them to introduce myself.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Customer:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;Let me ask them first.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example 2<gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><gwmw style=\"display:none;\"><\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Saleswoman:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;My success depends heavily on referrals from satisfied clients. I appreciate it.&#8221; Then, if you can, give me their contact details.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Customer:<\/em><\/strong><em> &#8220;Well, no one comes to my mind right now.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Saleswoman<\/em>&nbsp;<em>&#8220;Sure, I understand that; do you mind if I give you a call in the next couple of days in case you might have thought of a couple of names.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Referrals Characterization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Customer Referrals<\/em>: are referrals made by satisfied customers with whom you have built a relationship, and they trust you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Focus on your satisfied clients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide value first before asking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be specific with your request.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a referral mindset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay connected with your customers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Personal Referrals<\/em><strong>:<\/strong>&nbsp;are referrals made by friends, family, and acquaintances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Educate your connection with what you offer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explain to them your buyer\u2019s persona.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agree with them on referral format or procedure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assure them that you will add value.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep on reminding them all the time and every time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Professional Referrals<\/em><strong>:&nbsp;<\/strong>are referrals made by professionals with whom you have formed a mutually beneficial relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Create your\u00a0Sales Professional Network.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify products or services your prospects might purchase alongside your product.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reach out to sales professionals at those organizations to get your network started.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Networkin<\/strong><strong>g<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Networking is one of the cornerstones of prospecting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You are networking to meet prospects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remember that you are not there to sell, set appointments, or get leads.
